Landscape Basics

An overview of home landscape basics for a home gardener.  This class will be based on Earth-Kind gardening principles and will cover the aspects of location, light, water, soil and plant compatibility.

Gardening Success Begins with Soil

We will go deeper into the soil composition in Fort Bend County landscapes, when to test, what soil amendments if any, and what type of soil for what type of plantings.

Flowering Plants for 4 Seasons

We will discuss how to add color for each season so the home gardener will have something blooming throughout the year.  We will cover Texas Superstar Plants as well.

Using Irrigation Wisely

Turf grass comprises a substantial part of our home landscapes.  In this class, you will learn the different types of grass that are suitable for our area, and how to identify and manage problems.

Landscape Pests & Diseases

Pests are not always pests – there are beneficial insects as well.  This class will cover both the good and bad bugs, plant diseases and management.

Tree Care Basics

When is a good time to plant a tree? How to prune and take care of our trees? What tree is suitable for a specific place in our home landscapes? This class will cover these topics.

Edible Landscapes

It will be wonderful if we can feed our families from our garden produce.  This class will educate us on how to start and maintain an edible landscape in our home gardens.

With the past few terrible winters, we all had to scramble to protect our plants.  In this class we will learn some tips and tricks to prepare before the freeze hits.
