The Texas Fruit Conference supports the unique challenges and opportunities for growing perennial fruit in Texas by bringing people together! We kept the fruit conference alive during Covid with a virtual online offering, but we are happy to announce that we will once again be bringing fruit growers together in person this October!!

Fruit Recovery 2021: The historic 2021 February freeze was impactful for many of our important fruit crops in Texas. We continue to learn much about cold hardiness and cold protection strategies that worked (and didn’t work). Expect this subject to be a feature this year as we look back and once again consider Texas’ fruit growing future.

Intro to Fruit Growing Workshop: Our 2020 virtual conference included a half-day program aimed at educating new growers on how to start a fruit production business from the ground up. We plan to offer this special session again for anyone interested in starting a fruit orchard for serious commercial production, personal pleasure, ag exemption projects or somewhere in between.

Tried & True vs Brand New: Our goal with the main conference program is to meet the diverse need for information among our participants by developing educational topics that cover proven and traditional fruit crops in Texas (peaches, blackberries, strawberries and pears) as well as new crops, varieties and growing techniques that may open doors for new markets or greater economic sustainability.

Expanded Exhibits: The 2021 Texas Fruit Conference is our 10^th Anniversary, and to mark the success of this event, we are going big—big on space! We are renting more area in the NBCCC to allow for more education and more exhibits. Do you have fruit-related products, services or information that you want to make available to our audience??
